Championing Collective
Change
Working with our customers and industry partners to identify crucial targets that reduce environmental footprint, we’re dedicated to going above and beyond best practice, so we become sustainability leaders and empower our people and the brands we work with to achieve the ultimate goal of creating a positive impact on our planet.
Target Driven
Our focus is on three key priorities, with specific targets
focused on driving positive change around:
- Protecting Climate and Nature
- Strengthening Our Supply Chain and Circularity
- Empowering People and Communities
Aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, we’re committed to sustainable growth and working to positively impact our planet
Cosmetics Industry
Collaboration
We’re proud to be one of the first UK beauty manufacturers to have joined Cosmetic Europe’s Commit for Our Planet initiative. The aim is to reduce the cosmetic sector’s environmental footprint in Europe and across the value chain through joint effort and industry action.
Climate
Commitment: Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions
We commit to calculate our corporate footprint (Scope 1, 2 and 3) following the GHG protocol, define and communicate GHG emissions targets, and implement an internal action plan to reduce them by 2030.
THG’s Net-zero targets align with the latest climate science which are aimed at limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, and have been validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
Nature
Commitment: Protecting Nature Through Operations
We’re committed to researching and developing formulations that require less energy and water to produce. We aim to improve the energy and water usage in production of current formulations where possible.
Commitment: Protecting nature through ingredient sourcing
CFOP Level 1: We commit to conduct an analysis of upstream nature-related risks to identify risk critical ingredients using the Cosmetics Europe database by 2025.
Through the development of our formulation charter, we are striving to steadily increase the amount of environmentally friendly, low-impact materials used in our products.
We commit to prioritising selection of natural ingredients that are crafted through biotechnology, fermentation, upcycling or regenerative agriculture, and those that benefit local communities and protect biodiversity.
We are committed to furthering development of sustainable alternatives to agriculturally grown ingredients using biotechnology. We’re collaborating with pioneers in this area to help the progression and creation of cosmetic ingredients for the industry.
Harnessing Renewable
Energy

Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGO).
Certification
If a brand's brief requires their product to meet COSMOS Standards, we can work to their four core principles to help our customers achieve COSMOS certification.
From delivery and storage of raw materials, through to the manufacture, labelling, handling and distribution of a customers products, there are strict operational requirements involved in manufacturing organic and natural products. THG LABS state-of-the-art facilities and quality experts mean your COSMOS compliance is in safe hands.
As well as supporting clients with Certified COSMOS Organic and COSMOS Natural products we can also help RSPO Certified Customers.
Design for Sustainability
Our extensive internal expertise consistently provides a strategic springboard when developing solutions for beauty brands looking to make real world sustainability-driven improvements.
Harnessing a creative mindset while adhering to established design for recyclability guidelines (RecyClass, UK Plastics Pact etc.), we’re able to utilise in-depth LCA data to model and redesign our environmental impacts for any piece of packaging.
Samuel Perry- Packaging Development Manager, THG Labs Acheson
THG LABS are members of The UK Plastics Pact and are aligned with their commitments around transforming the plastics packaging system.
THG LABS partner strategic suppliers to offer our customers Prevented Ocean Plastics (POP) certified recycled content.
With the ability to reach 100% PCR content in clear and opaque bottles this can drive; emission reductions, improved consumer perception, packaging quality and become a further selling point for your beauty brand.
The POP scheme collects waste plastic at an industrial scale with full traceability all over the world from high-risk areas such as coastlines and rivers to stop waste impacting nature.
Compliance with Global
Sustainability Regulations
Our in-house Regulatory team are continuously horizon scanning for new legislation which may impact the sustainability of raw materials, formulations and product packaging so we prepare our customers for when new requirements come into force. Continuous maintenance of raw material data helps us support beauty brands with any reporting they need, as well as supporting us with our own reporting.
THG LABS Packaging team can also help beauty brands collate data for sustainable regulations and waste reporting.
